Upcoming Events for Florida Outreach Center for the Blind
Dining in the Dark is coming up October 15th, 2011!
What is it?
The 5th Annual Thomas Hartig Dining in the Dark benefit to assist blind individuals will take place on
Saturday, October 15th, 2011, 5:30-8:30 PM, at the Airport Hilton Hotel located at 150 Australian Avenue
in West Palm Beach, Florida. At this unique event, you will experience food, drink and conversation as
you may never have before – without your sight. In pitch black darkness, your other senses are
stimulated to savor the smell, taste and texture of your dining experience. Conversation becomes more
intimate. And ultimately, this will expand your understanding of what individuals who are blind
experience in their lives.
What's new?
We are delighted to have Representative Mark Pafford, Legislative Member of the Vision Caucus, as our
Keynote Speaker, and Michael Williams, Channel 5 News Anchor, as our Master of Ceremony at this year's
event! We are also thrilled to announce that Brad Hedrick will be entertaining our guests. At the
reception before dinner, the popular basket raffle is back. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office
SWAT Team will once again wait on you with their night vision goggles. After dinner, the Thomas Hartig
"Inspirational Community Member Award" will be presented to an inspirational member of our community
(Click Here for the nomination form due September 15.)
