Established in 2003 by visually-impaired persons, the Florida Outreach Center for the Blind is the only full-service training facility of its kind in Palm Beach County. Our classes provide, at no charge, instruction in Braille, Electronic Communications, Daily Living Skills, Cooking, and Personal and Home Management.
The Center also hosts weekly support groups, craft classes and workshops on a variety of topics. On display is an extensive variety of aids and appliances for hands-on inspection by the students. The Center’s Equipment Loan Program enables clients to have adaptive technology which they otherwise could not afford. It also offers blind individuals access to a Talking Books inventory.
The Center's programs are taught by certified instructors and designed to assist blind persons in developing the confidence they need to live independently and to expand their expectations. It also provides an environment where blind individuals can share support and resources with one another. Through the skills learned at the Center, blind people are empowered to help themselves.
The Florida Outreach Center for the Blind is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit resource center for visually-impaired persons. The Center offers, at no charge, innovative and exciting programs which teach blind individuals the skills necessary for success and independence.
The Florida Outreach Center for the Blind believes that with the proper tools and affective training techniques, a blind person can lead a full and productive life.
There are an estimated 48,000 visually-impaired persons in our area and the numbers are expected to double within the next 20 years. The Florida Outreach Center for the Blind NEEDS YOUR HELP IF WE ARE TO ASSIST THESE INDIVIDUALS in FACING THE CHALLENGES OF VISION LOSS.
